As promised... Recap of the weekend

The weekend was lots of fun. There ended up being six of us, two of which were old high school friends (Sam and Kevin). Kevin is in the Air Force, and he just got back from Afghanistan a couple of months ago! We stayed at Randolph Air Force Base, about thirty minutes away from San Antonio and New Braunfels. It was neat to see the base – it’s like a mini-city! They have EVERYTHING – houses, a grocery store, grade schools, a bowling alley, and even a Burger King! The housing we stayed in was inexpensive – only $25 a night – and since we got there late Thursday evening, they didn’t charge us for that day! Friday, we went to Schlitterbaun. It was pretty fun, definitely better than Wet n Wild / Hurricane Harbor. The lines were pretty long, though, and the park was huge (you have to take a BUS to get to the other side!), so we pretty much rode everything once and went home. Friday night, we drove to San Antonio and had dinner at Dick’s Last Resort on the Riverwalk. Our table [i.e. KEVIN] got in a paper ball fight with the bachelorette party across the room – it was funny. After that, we went to a piano bar called Howl at the Moon. It was really neat – two pianos and a backing band, and they played all kinds of stuff we knew. Saturday, we floated in the river all day. We rented tubes and coolers, and floated down the river, all our tubes tied to one another so we didn’t float away. I never really understood the interest in floating the river, but now I completely understand (not that I can explain it any better). We were all exhausted Saturday night, so we ordered pizza and watched a movie on TV. Sunday was spent driving home.
